I’m legitimately excited to come back next month and see how it all turns out. One thing I see all the time are million-dollar new homes that are not of a particular... uh, esteemed quality. This one is a cost-is-no-object affair. I guess I should hold my tongue on that last part until he approves my bid.
Bigly
Still bigly
You don’t want to know how much this cost
Outdoor everything. Basically a home outside of a home-home.
Good sized deep pool
Nice.
Catwalk
More exposed beams
Attached 3 car garage such a waste—
OH WAIT THERE’S A DETACHED GARAGE AND SHOP WITH A MOTHER-IN-LAW ABOVE. Only 5,000 square feet...
So huge I couldn’t even get it all in one photo

Those white doors stick out a lot.

Lol a cloud on a sunny day. I believe they’re getting painted. I met the buyer — she’s not gonna let that fly.

Having money must be nice

Bid for what?

My 886 square feet would agree. To my knowledge, this guy is self-made if that helps soften the blow...

Tercel parts.

Ooh, they really are going all out!
Presume those will be part of the formal living room decor?

How many chandeliers?

Not my style, but seems like it would be a pretty comfy place to live, and definitely more tasteful than a lot of new houses.

Steel beams in the catwalk is a nice touch. I’ve got one going in deep Woodinville that’s set up like this. I’ll get some pics up when it’s done.

Most of the genuinely well-built mega homes I go to use either Garibaldi or Vitrum architectural grade glass, with the windows alone easily being worth my condo two times over. It’s pretty cool seeing these interesting builds though after slogging through what feels like hundreds of “multi-million dollar custom homes” that are filled with contractor grade junk and corner cutting to meet a specific price. This place looks nice.
Ask if he’ll rent out the MIL unit and garage for me..?

THEY DON’T MATCH THE DETATCHED GARAGE OR THE OVERALL THEME

It’s modern yet classic
It’s quaint yet no

The in law/garage is 5k sqft? Doesn’t look that big at all. Id be ok with 3000 sqft shop with 2000 living above it and 1000 feet of the shop having super high ceilings.

20’ is my guess on vaulted ceiling height.

Aha - figured that might be the case

Wow. I like it.
Would not want to keep it clean.

I assume they’ll stick a relative up there that they tolerate.

I allllllmost bought a house with a two-story wall of windows in the back like that in 2010 (ok they weren’t quite that fancy and the rest of the house was much smaller than this one and the price was around $200k). We get hail pretty often and the thought of dealing with broken glass there was a big part of the reason that we bailed on it. It also had a small mother-in-law house that wasn’t totally finished inside with a bathroom that had no wall. It was still on the market a year later and one of friends was actually serious about it enough to pay an inspector to come out before making a formal offer. They found the reason that guest house bathroom wasn’t ever completed was there there was no plumbing and no practical way to get it there and meet code. Ooh Google cam thru with photos:

I’m looking forward to the chandelier selection you will be trying to sell.

Architect: Sir, how would you like to design your house? We could go with Colonial, or perhaps Mid-Century?
Sir: GREAT WOLF LODGE!

I really hope that is photo shopped.

I’ve seen big commercial projects full of similar cost cutting. Interior spec glass doors used for exterior applications, indoor rated elevators used outside, massively undersized HVAC

I heard you like gables bro... so we put a gable on a gable on a gable on a gable on a gable on a gable on a gable on a gable on a gable on a gable on a gable on a gable on a gable on a gable on a gable on a gable on a gable.

Nice details on the inside. But that roofline looks really peaky and jumbled on the outside.

You’ll get no argument from me. It is busy and I often believe the purpose to simply to show off that you are doing fine financially. My idea of a dream home for myself is still just a 3-bedroom rambler.

That 1st picture looks like a house I drive by on occasion, tucked away on some back road. I ,of course, haven’t seen it as up close as you are, but that first picture gave me a case of deja vu.

All that means is he stepped on people lower than him to get on top.

That’s an incredibly cynical take. It’s not like this guy is a billionaire tycoon, or a trustafarian who inherited some blood money.

Well I guess working in automotive repair has turned me into a cynical asshole. Granted the person I work for now is incredibly generous, but he is the exception, not the rule.
